Main Tasks

  • Configure OS parameters
  • Troubleshoot operating system problems, monitor system log and file systems
  • Monitor OS to detect issues in technical operations
  • Monitor filesystems
  • Monitor swap and page areas to prevent issues in technical operations
  • Maintain OS users and groups - access only, no privileged access to operating system for client / customer / 3rd party
  • Regular automated patching of OS software components (other software excluded)
  • OS Software lifecycle management (OS release version upgrade)
  • Perform scheduled startup/shutdown of OS in SoT
  • Restart the OS after failure
  • Perform regular OS backup as per defined backup policy
  • Monitor backup process
  • Test backup recoverability
  • Perform restore and recovery after system failure
  • Cooperation with vendor support
  • Support for incident and problem management
  • Initiation of 3rd party support (e.g. suppliers, developers)
  • Maintenance of configuration item in database (CMDB)
